RMG Partners was established in October 2004 by Ross Mottershead and Murray Godfrey who are both members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and both have in excess of 20 years professional experience.

Ian Purchas, Darren Vardy and Sonia Gibson joined Ross and Murray as principals of the practice in 2008.
